Finally – it’s raining.  OK, it’s lovely to have the solar panels generating all that electricity & filling up the hot water tank, but looking out of the window & seeing grey skies and wet streaks on the glass is very welcome.  Our soil here is very sandy, and the first half hour of rain just puddles on the surface with a coating of dust, but it is now starting to soak in at last.  We’ve been determined not to water anything (apart from the herbs in their pots, of course), but it was getting a bit touch and go for some plants, and the sheep & geese are running out of grass fast.

Shame I’ve still got to go out & pick asparagus for  Shrewsbury tomorrow . . .
